Proposal from Stewardship Committee to Change Fiscal Year
Proposal: “In an effort to better align Memorial Congregational Church’s (MCC) fiscal year to our programing year, the Stewardship Committee respectfully proposes that MCC’s fiscal year be changed from January 1 through December 31 to July 1 through June 30. This change will become effective on July 1, 2013 pending approval at an all church meeting.”
Reasons For:
- Better aligns fiscal year with church programming year
- Annual pledge drive will be held during Lent and congregation will know tax situation
- Annual employee reviews will be easier to complete and will mirror the actual program year
- Annual Church Meeting and new fiscal year budget will be held prior to the start of the new fiscal year as opposed to six weeks into it
Reasons Against:
- Any change is difficult for some people
- Fiscal year change also impacts the pledge drive and committee assignments
