Ash Wednesday is a call for Christians to pause our busy lives, remember that we are created by God, and that we are mortal. It’s a time of public repentance for the ways in which our world is broken and a sign of the hope we see in the work and word revealed to us in Jesus Christ.
This year, MCC will offer a variety of ways to participate in Ash Wednesday.

7-8:30am  Ashes-to-Go, Parking Lot  A moment to stop and reflect as you begin your busy day. Drive into the lot and receive a blessing and ashes without leaving your car.

Noon  Traditional service, sanctuary Gather in community to hear scripture, song, and prayers exploring the flawed and mortal life we live as we seek ways to turn back to God. Ashes will be available and Communion will be served.

7pm  Ashes at “The Well,” sanctuary Explore the concepts of light and darkness, repentance and hope through a variety of prayer stations. Ashes will be available and Communion will be served.

At each service there will be two kinds of ash available.

Traditional ashes: burned palms from last year’s Palm Sunday mixed with olive oil.

Glitter+Ash: make-up grade glitter mixed with ashes meant as a sign of support, visibility, and hope for the LGBT+ community.
