MCC works with many mission partners in the Metrowest area of Boston and around the world. Through hands-on activities as well as contributing 9% of our giving budget, we hope to create a better world and help those in need.
Family Promise is part of a partnership of congregations within a community helping families who are facing homelessness. It offers an opportunity for volunteers of all faiths to reduce homelessness and transform lives. MCC is a support congregation to Peace Lutheran and Congregation Or Atid in Wayland, as well as First Parish in Framingham. MCC members volunteer by:
- Cooking and serving meals; Playing with children and helping them with homework; Providing groceries for the Day Center or host church Being present for children and their families, showing them compassion and respect, and sharing a sense of community
Open Table provides healthy food, friendship and support by offering weekly community dinner programs and food pantries in Sudbury, Concord and Maynard to more than 300 guests. They provide a welcoming community of support and assistance to families and individuals, including many seniors and children. MCC helps by providing volunteers to help cook and serve meals, and assist in the food pantry.
City Mission, is a Boston-based agency dedicated to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable, with an overarching focus on preventing family homelessness. MCC conducts an annual clothing and toy drive at Christmas to support the work of City Mission.
CROP Hunger Walk We walk with others to raise awareness of hunger in our community and around the world and to raise money for local food pantries.
Since 1969, The Walk for Hunger has been a tradition in Massachusetts and raises millions of dollars for the over 430 emergency food programs that support families in crisis. On the first Sunday in May each year, members and friends of MCC join more than 42,000 walkers on the Boston Common to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
